Our Story
Everyone has a story. Ours begins where the sand meets the sea. Coastal Friends was born from a simple walk along the beach that turned into something unforgettable—a shared love for the water, the coast, and each other.
In the summer of 1992, we met on the beautiful shores of Sanibel Beach. Both of us were on vacation, staying at a nearby resort about half a mile from the lighthouse. From the very beginning, we knew something special was starting. We spent that day walking and talking along the shore, the gentle waves keeping us cool and relaxed. One of the highlights was an unforgettable walk to the Sanibel Lighthouse—we were captivated by the island’s beauty, the water, and its laid-back coastal vibe.
A few years later, we got married and eventually moved to Southwest Florida, where we have loved raising our three wonderful kids — who now share our love for the water.
Today, whenever we take our boat out, that special spot near the lighthouse is often our first stop—a reminder of the moment that started it all. Our deep connection with each other, our family, and the coastal lifestyle is at the heart of Coastal Friends.

How many people can come on a tour?
Up to 6 people per trip. It’s always a private tour—no sharing with strangers.
What should we bring?
Just sunscreen, swimsuits, and whatever you want to eat or drink. We’ve got the beach gear covered—shade, chairs, paddleboards, and more.
Do we need to sign anything before the tour?
Yes. You’ll sign a simple waiver when you book, which includes an optional photo release.
Can we see dolphins?
Often, yes! We know their favorite hangouts. While we can’t guarantee sightings, chances are good.
If we’re staying at a waterfront property, can you pick us up directly from our dock?
We’d love to pick you up right from your dock! If your waterfront property has safe, accessible docking and it’s within our service area, we can often make that happen. Just send us your location ahead of time so we can confirm the details. It’s a great way to start your adventure!
What if the weather's bad?
Safety comes first. If we need to cancel due to weather, you’ll get a full refund or be able to reschedule.
Is food included?
Water is provided! Food isn’t included, but you're welcome to bring your own choice of snacks and beverages. Also, we can take you to great waterfront spots where you can eat, drink, and relax.
Can we bring alcohol?
Yes, you can bring your own drinks. Just be smart and respectful—it's a relaxed, not rowdy, vibe.
How can we pay?
We take payments online with a secure Stripe link. Tips can be added later too if you had a great time!
